This new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks includes markings for two different 1/48 P-47 Thunderbolts.

The first aircraft is a P-47D-5-RE flown by Major Henry B. Kucheman from Steeple Morden, England in late 1943.  This aircraft was with the 355 FG/354 FS.  The paint scheme is olive green on top and grey on the underside.  There is white script on the side of the engine cowling that reads "Lil Lo" and in front of that is a sexy nude angel with wings and the red script that reads "MissBehave" on the forward part of the engine cowling.  The forward engine cowling ring is white.   The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.  There are a variety of extra squadron code decals included that are slightly different due to the tricky business of getting completely clear photos of the squadron codes on the real plane.  There is a white horizontal stripe on each side of the rudder and white stripes on the top of the horizontal flying surfaces of the tail.  This plane has many mission markings.

The second plane aircraft is a P-47D-28-RA flown from Boxted, England in 1944.  This aircraft was with the 56 FG/63 FS.  The paint scheme is baremetal/silver on top and bottom underside and has a olive green anti-glare panel in front of the windscreen.  There is a sexy partially nude lady and white script above and behind her that reads "Shack Rat" on the forward part of the engine cowling.  The forward engine cowling ring is Red.  This aircraft also has D-Day stripes on the underside of the rear fuselage.  There is a black horizontal stripe on each side of the rudder and black stripes on the top and bottom of the horizontal flying surfaces of the tail.  The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.

The noseart decals are delicate and two are included for each plane in case you mess up the first ones.  Exacting instructions are included on how to prepare and install these decals…..read these instructions carefully to avoid disaster.  Apparently these noseart decals are very thin and need special care, but once installed they will look very accurate and realistic.  The nose art decals are printed on a one piece decal sheet, so you’ll need to cut the decal free from the rest of the decal film…..patience is the key here.  The noseart decal is beautifully printed with fantastic detail and lovely shading.

The instructions are clear and include 3 views of each aircraft and an extra 2 pages of text instructions and one of line drawing showing decal placement is included with a small bit of info about both the planes as well as helpful tips for decal application.

A very nice decal sheet and  sure to please the lucky 300 people that manage to buy one of these limited edition sheets.
