This new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks includes markings for three different 1/72 P-47 Thunderbolts (although 2 of those are the same plane at different times with different noseart).

The first aircraft is a P-47N-1-RE Thunderbolt serial number 44-88043 in it's earlier paint scheme of "SHORT SHOOTER".  This particular Jug is the later Bubbletop version and is featured on this decal sheet with a different paint scheme and different nose art.  The first paint scheme for this aircraft is "SHORT SHOOTER" which has that text written in red and yellow on the forward side section of the engine cowling.  This plane is overall bare metal/silver in appearance with Olive Drab for the anti-glare panel in front of the windscreen and behind the canopy on top of the fuselage.  The top of the wings and tail surfaces are silver in appearance.  The forward engine cowl ring is yellow with a black stripe on the rear edge of the cowl ring.  Props are black with yellow tips.  There is a small black #21 on the underside of the yellow cowl ring as well as a large black #21 on the side of the rear fuselage just forward of the blue and white national insignia.  The nose art is a beautiful nude Brunette wearing red high heels sitting up wearing a sailor's cap.  The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.

The second plane is actually the above P-47N-1-RE Thunderbolt serial number 44-88043 in it's later paint scheme with 333rd FS of the 318th FG out of le Shima, Ryukyu Islands in August of 1944.  This particular Jug is the later Bubbletop version and is featured as the second aircraft on this decal sheet with a different paint scheme and different nose art.  The second paint scheme on this aircraft is "2 BIG And Too HEAVY" which has that text written in red and yellow on the forward side section of the engine cowling. The tail has an interesting black and yellow diagonal stripe pattern which extends onto the horizontal flying surfaces.  The nose art is a beautiful nude Brunette wearing red high heels in a reclining position.  There is a second piece of smaller artwork below the windshield just aft of the main artwork.  This second artwork is a triangle featuring a Cobra snake with a set of P-47 wings.  Also featured in this artwork is a cloud background and 3 small white dice....one in each corner.  The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.

The third aircraft is a P-47D-1-RE Thunderbolt serial number 42-7877 flown by Capt. Gerald Johnson with 61st FS of the 56th FG out of Halesworth, England in late summer of 1943.  This particular Jug is the earlier Razorback version and is featured as the third aircraft on this decal sheet.  The paint scheme on this aircraft is "IN THE MOOD" which has that text written in yellow on the side of the engine cowling just below the windscreen.  This plane is overall Olive Drab with a white engine cowl ring and white horizontal stripe on the tail.  The top of the wings and tail surfaces are Olive Drab and the underside of the aircraft is Neutral Grey.  Props are black with yellow tips.  There is a white "D" with black outline on the side of the rear fuselage just aft of the red, white and blue national insignia and forward on the national insignia is the text "JACKSON COUNTY, MICHIGAN, FIGHTER".  The tail has the yellow serial numbers 27877.  The nose art is a beautiful nude redhead in a reclining position.  This P-47 has 5 German kill markings.  The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.

The noseart decals are delicate and two are included for each plane in case you mess up the first ones.  Exacting instructions are included on how to prepare and install these decals…..read these instructions carefully to avoid disaster.  Apparently these noseart decals are very thin and need special care, but once installed they will look very accurate and realistic.  The nose art decals are printed on a one piece decal sheet, so you’ll need to cut the decal free from the rest of the decal film…..patience is the key here.  The noseart decal is beautifully printed with fantastic detail and lovely shading.

The instructions are clear and include  views of each aircraft and an extra 3 pages of text instructions and one of line drawing showing decal placement is included with a small bit of info about both the planes as well as helpful tips for decal application.

A very nice decal sheet and  sure to please the lucky 300 people that manage to buy one of these limited edition sheets.
