The Ju-88 was the
most versatile warplane in the Luftwaffe inventory during world-war II. It served
not only as a bomber, but was also employed in reconnaissance and even fighter
roles. It is one of the favorite subjects among modellers worldwide, being offered
by a variety of mainstream manufacturers. Many different upgrade sets are
also available for super-detailing. I bought this model (Italeri #018) way
back in 1990 when I was a just a kid. I started it many years ago, and it laid
unfinished ever since. I recently returned to my hobby and decided to finish my
old kits first. The model is of good quality, but I wanted to give it something
else. Browsing ebay I came across an Eduard photo etched set designed for this
kit (#72070) and didn't hesitate, especially due to the low price. Sadly there
were no seatbelts included in this set, so I had to buy the German bomber
seatbelt set from Eduard (73003).

I always liked the
Wellenmuster paint scheme depicted in the box art. So I decided to use the
original decal, which were quite good. This scheme is quite tricky to get
right, especially due to the small distance you need to keep between the
airbrush and the surface, but I enjoyed the results.
The
decals were applied directly to the matt surface (Humbrol 63, 149 and 127), with
the help of some MicroSol and a Brazilian Future polish equivalent (Bravo
Classic).
