INTRO
This is my new collection
and 2nd MiG 29 built. For this project, I used 1/48 Academy MiG-29A kit.
CONSTRUCTION
The RMAF’s MiG-29N is
different from other fulcrums. The RMAF’s Fulcrum has fitted with an
in-flight refueling probe (I think for single seat MiG-29N only not for
MiG-29NUB) for this part, I use VFA Production resin IFR and the
connector of IFR (fuel pipeline behind auxiliary air intake) I use a
metal wires.
Other modifications for this
Fulcrum is filling in slot for IFF antenna and ignore the IFF kit part.
To replace and add some antennas I use a plastic sheet a sized like
antenna fins as shown. For R-27/AA-10 missile, I
cut off the frontier small fin and filling it.

PAINTING
For painting, I’m still
using custom aerosol spray paint for my Fulcrum. It’s easy to find,
simple and cheap. For previous built scale model, I bought all aerosol
spray from a local hardware shop, but for this Fulcrum, to find the grey
color like ‘Air Superiority Grey’ it not easy. Not all hardware shops
sell this color! For all around, I apply a Genting Dusk Grey no.42
(for anchor aerosol spray only). Hahaha………. I don’t know what
the people say, but I believe this is a suitable color for my
Fulcrum. For exhaust, I used a mix-up flat black with Silver to get a Metal gun
color. Before us, I washed and cleaned up my model in the soapy water to
remove all greasy finger marks or all filler residue or dust and after
that, used masking tape to mask off the areas mostly cockpit, K-36
ejection seat, exhaust and others.
DECALS
I use VFA Production "1/48 Russian Connections" decal sheet.
For applying the decals I first cut the decals from the sheet and dipped the
decal in warm water for the seconds. After soaking for a few seconds,
place the decal over the model and, using a soft brush to hold the decal
in place, carefully slide the backing paper out from under the decal,
taking care not to stretch the decal in the process.
Do not be tempted to move the decal with your fingers because sometime
the decal can sticky to your finger. Use a brush and plenty of water.
Once in position, press down carefully and gently with a cotton bud
rolled gently over the decal to get rid of any trapped air bubbles.
MISCELLANEOUS
For the ground crew and pilot, I used the 1/48 Hasegawa U.S Pilot/Ground Crew Set B and
paint following the RMAF airman crew uniform. All equipment for example
missile carrier/missile lift, pilot ladder, rear wheels ‘saddle’ and IRST
housing/cover (I don’t know what the RMAF’s airman crew call this
part) made with plastic card, metal and copper wires.
