I hope your enjoying the updates this week. Here is another of my recent creations from 2006, which has turned into quite a year for me! I found this wonderful S.A.F.S (Super Armored Fighting Suit, Mk 1) girl online and had to have her.  Cast in resin, she comes in six or seven pieces with almost no cleanup needed. I did have to fill some major gaps at the hairline with milliput, but that turned out to be no problem. My SAFS girl (the Japanese love "Super Deformed" stuff and I like their "hybrids") sports Wave Option Parts spring units (from Hobby Link Japan  great stuff!) for the power supply lines on the back of the legs and arms. This was my first attempt at anime style eyes and I'm very happy with how they came out. A great tutorial from Kody Kwok's website really helped!

After priming with Mr Surfacer after a good soak in Castrol Super Clean to get rid of mold release agents, I painted with Model Master skin tones and Russian Interior Blue Green with Reaper Miniatures paint applied in thin transparent layers to hair and what little clothing there is. Painting went quickly and she was installed on her custom "heartbreaker" base.

The SAFS suit is the brainchild of highly talented Kow Yokoyama, who created his models of highly advanced fighting suits for a future epoch.  When introduced in the US, those of us that saw those first ads in Finescale Modeler in 1985 thought it must be some kind of WWIII in space.  We really weren't far off, and now, SF3D (original name) or Machinen Krieger (Ma.K.) is a very highly developed series with intricately detailed, well produced models.  If WWII German armor with a hint of sci fi are your thing, Ma.K is right up your alley! A selection of exceptionally well built and detailed models can be found at Kruegers' Krieger website, which opened up doors to my modeling world.

Have a safe and happy new year!
