After reading about
Hans-Joachim Marseille in William Yenne's Aces book, I had to build his
plane.
Above is Marseille's Bf-109F-4 Trop flying over the North African desert. I
picked up an older Hasegawa 1:48 kit at the Dallas IPMS Show last May and put it
together recently. I built an old Revell 1:48 Flying Tiger several years ago.
With some Photoshop trickery, I transformed that aircraft into a RAF Tomahawk
that unfortunately tangled with Marseille.
Marseille's story is very interesting and so is the speculation about "what
might have been" if he hadn't died so early in the war in an accident.
