Hi Robert,
Thanks for sending in your Fw-190 article. This one looks very nice. =
Because you have more than one article to go on ARC......I will be =
spacing them 8 days apart. This will give each of your models it's own =
time in the spotlight.

  This Revell Focke-Wulf FW190G-8 is a re-issue of Dragon/TriMaster's =
model. The box-art depicts an aircraft with red nose-band and rudder, =
but I was not sure this was correct. An e-mail to noted historian Jerry =
Crandall proved me correct in my suspicions regarding the colours. Being =
an aircraft of II./SG10 (second Gruppe of SlachtGeschwader 10) operating =
out of Totvasony, Hungary, february 1945, this unit was part of =
Luftflotte 4. As distinguishing markings they had yellow nose-bands and =
rudders. The yellow 'V' below the port wing was a recognition aid to =
flak crews to make sure they didn't shoot down their own low-flying =
planes by mistake! These markings were removed the following month. =
Jerry Crandall also shed some light on the colours used; RLM 77 light =
grey over RLM 83 dark green, with RLM 76 light blue-grey lower surfaces =
and sides. The 77 in particular is interesting; at year's end supplies =
of paint were getting low, so quite often primer, or in this case RLM =
77, was substituted for the more widely used 82 brown-green or 75 dark =
grey. Interesting is the small black arrow: could this possibly be the =
aircraft of a Staffel commander? Remember that SG (Slacht Gruppen) did =
not follow the same markings as did the JG (Jagd Gruppen)

The underwing stores are typical of this JaBoRei (JagdBomberReichweite =
or Long-range fighter-bomber) cosisting of two R-3 300 liter droptanks =
and one 250-kg bomb loaded on the centre ETC-rack. Only modifications to =
the kit are the True Detail weighted wheels; the rest is straight from =
the box.=20
