RCAF 416 Lynx Squadron c.1962

With the news of the upcoming re-issue of this great little kit, I thought I'd share with you my CF-101B, which I built about 5 yrs ago. I bought it in a rural convenience store about a half hours drive from my home. A friend of my brother in law donated some decals from a company called A.L.S. I haven't seen any of these decals since then which is a shame as they were in perfect register and printed on nearly invisible carrier film.

The kit itself is very nice and has finely recessed panel lines and dropped flaps as well as position able horizontal stabs, speedbrakes, canopy and rotating missile bay. External stores includes 2 of each, drop tanks, AIM 4 Falcons and AIR 2 Genies.

The cockpit is nicely done with multi part seats and decals over raised detail on the consoles and instrument panels.

Full intake trunking is included along with some afterburner detail too. The gear bays are also nicely done. If you want to do a CF-101B, you'll need to shave off the formation light panels as I did unless your doing the all black EF-101B of  414 Sqn. I also had to remove the IR pod as the early RCAF Voodoo's didn't have those.

I used the markings for 416 "Lynx" Sqn which were based at CFB Chatham N.B. during the Voodoo era. This was one of my early builds, some evidence of my errors are visible is some pics, please excuse them. Good thing we learn from our mistakes.

I hope to get a few more of these and build the 414 Sqn EF-101B and a late scheme CF-101B too.

Happy Modeling!
