This is the 1/48
Scale English Electric Canberra depicted as an Australian GAF built Mk.20
serving with 2 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force during the Vietnam conflict,
circa 1970.
The airframe
depicted (A84-246) was the highest mission tally holder of any Australian
Canberra serving in the conflict, and was initially earmarked for conservation
by the Australian War Memorial upon retirement; but was instead used for
destructive testing as part of a corrosion audit in 1980 (http://www.adf-serials.com/2a84.shtml)......
You can't win em all I guess - but a sad end for a superb machine :-(

Nothing
too special about the prep for this model besides some careful pre and post
shading - as would befit an aircraft operating in the harsh climatic conditions
of South East Asia, and I used a mix of the kit decals which were a tad too
thick - and an aftermarket set which were a tad thin! (evens out though eh?!
haha)
Very
happy with this one, and I think It's a fitting tribute to the Australian built
Canberras.
