Australia Day

This is the relatively recent release 1/48 scale Hobbyboss F-111C as depicted as A8-128 whilst in the service of 6 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force circa 1993 in my favourite scheme worn by the Pig, the SEA upper and tactical black lower.

The Hobbyboss kit is an absolute gem - no doubt about it... It went together almost magically, and leaves the far older Academy offering far, far, FAR in its wake!

The only additions were some aftermarket decals and a brass pitot tube in the nose... Otherwise stock-standard

On a sad note, this aircraft was tragically lost on the 13th of September 1993 whilst on a training exercise near Guyra, NSW with both crew members on board. A testament to the risks faced by military aircrews even in peacetime.

After years of heartbreak with broken landing gear in endless house moves, I made the decision to place all of my models in a "flying" pose on a simple and sturdy stand built with materials from local hardware suppliers - and I'm extremely happy with the finish.

Finally this Pig can fly again :-)

Happy modelling from Australia!
