Turkey Victory Day 2010

Dear All,

This is my 1:48 Tamiya Spitfire Mk.Vb in USAAF markings.  For a long time I have been planning British planes in American national insignia.  I guess a Beaufighter will follow this one.

As for aftermarket  I used Eduard's colored seat belts, Quickboost resin exhausts and Colorado-carpena decals.  Decals are provided my dear Friend Aykut Bilir.  Thanks goes him.

The only question was if American Spitfires have wing leading edge yellow bands like  most of Spitfires.  At that point one of Turkey's 3 wisemen helped me; Tolga Ulgur.. (Others are Ahmet Donmez and Ozkan Turker) Yes, He had sent me a pic and I realised that these birds had that band...So there was no reason not to build it with the yellow bands.

The only challenge was the decals, the massive size USAAF insignia on the wings didn't like microsol solutions.  After 48 hours fight, decals lost, solution won and decals settled down.......I had to apply the solution 5-6 times.. :)

For painting, I used Gunze's laquer RAF.  A big 'well done' goes Gunze guys.  It was the second plane I finished with Gunze laquers, result was really great! (At least for me)

In the end, I would like to send my best wishes to my dear bro Emad Tabsh from Beirut  and celebrate all my brothers's  Ramadan.

And off course happy modelling for everyone!
