France National Day 2010

Here is my P-47D Thunderbolt.  A Revell kit I did in 2008.  With this model, I tried to paint a model by brush with acrylics paints (at this time, Humbrol launched a new range of acrylics).

I decided to do mostly an out of the box build.  But I added a little square of transparent plastic sheet for the gunsight, replaced the kit's wheels with True Details ones and moved the landing light for to suit the sub-variant with the markings.  I precise : Revell propose the choice between a US bare metal aircraft and a French green and grey aircraft, but these birds didn't belonged to the same production block and for the French, the light is supposed to be located near the landing gear bay.

For the colors, I used paints from Humbrol, Prince August and Revell.  I used the H86 and the H87 for the camouflage.  But unfortunately, I discovered too late other inaccuracies : the nose must be partially red (MTO marking) and the wings upper surfaces roundel are too big.

The building was simple and fun. I hope you liked it.
