1/48 Eduard FW 190D-9

My latest build is the new FW 190D-9 from Eduard in 1/48th scale.  I modeled "Yellow 11" from the second gruppe JG2, a Dora Nine that was found by U.S. troops at Stockheim, Germany in the Spring of 1945.  It's interesting hybrid camouflage appealed to me for years.  I built this model with several additions and corrections.

The center section of the lower wing of a Revell Pro-Modeler FW190D-11 was grafted and blended to the Eduard lower wing. The kit seat was re-shaped to better resemble the FW seat. Canopy rail guides were added to the cockpit fuselage lip. A log book for the map holder was made from sheet styrene. The canopy is from a Tamiya FW 190F-8 and has the rubber seal added to the rear sliding, section.

The plane was painted with "Mr. Color" acrylics thinned 65% lacquer thinner to 35% paint, using both a Badger 100 and 150 airbrush. Alclad II Aluminum was used for the lower wing natural metal sections. Eagle Edition's decals were used for the markings after a coat of Future. A final coat of Testor's Dullcoat was over sprayed for a flat finish.
